This Is Rock ‘n’ Roll Radio # 1091: The Tenth Annual DANA’S FUNKY SOUL PIT

Dana’s Funky Soul Pit began in 2012, as a tangent to a promotion called Who Needs Dana & Carl? That was a fundraiser, where folks who donated at least $100 to support our community radio station were each given the opportunity to program the music for one week’s edition of This Is Rock ‘n’ Roll Radio. Both Dana and I wanted in on that action, so we ponied up for our own solo shows, too. I did a heartfelt tribute to the best little record store that ever was, Main Street Records in Brockport, NY. And Dana? Dana wanted to do an R & B show.

The rest is TIRnRR history. The buzz around that first edition of Dana’s Funky Soul Pit made sequels an irresistible prospect, and it’s been an annual tradition here ever since. Each year, Dana’s Funky Soul Pit remains one of our most eagerly-anticipated features, and Dana never disappoints. Get set to sweat. This is what rock ‘n’ roll radio sounded like in Dana’s Funky Soul Pit on a Sunday night in Syracuse this week.

NEXT WEEK: On August 29th, The Greatest Record Ever Made! (Volume 1).
